NejiSeal

The seal as seen on Neji's forehead in the anime and Viz Manga.

  • Name: Hyuga Main Family's Juinjutsu (日向宗家の呪印術, Hyūga Sōke no Juinjutsu; ; ; Hyuga Main Family's Cursed Seal Technique)
  • Type: A-rank, Supplementary, Short range (0-5m)[1]
  • Users: Hyuga main family
  • Debut (Anime): Naruto Episode 61
  • Debut (Manga): Chapter 102

Working Of Jutsu[]

This seal is given to all branch house members in the Hyūga clan by members of the main house. Its main purpose is to seal their Byakugan ability when they die, preventing an enemy from learning its secrets. It's secondary purpose is to control the branch house, since it can be activated at will by a main house member with a hand seal that only they know about [2]. The seal is placed on the wearer's forehead when the next member of the main house turns three years old, (Neji Hyūga received his at the age of four on Hinata's third birthday), and is only removed upon their death. Branch house members keep their foreheads covered because of the seal.

Effects[]

Death of brain cells if activated, possible death after prolonged activation, loss of Byakugan when dead.

Yes

The Byakugan's veins shooting out of every part of the eye once the Curse Mark is active.

Neji's eyes

Neji with the veins nearly active by force.

Noprr

The veins within the eye.

As seen here, once the eye is about to be touched by anyone that is not a Hyūga or if cast by a Main Branch family member, the seal will immediately activate, as veins will shoot out from the temples all the way to the eye itself, as even the inside of the eye will start to bulge, causing intense pain to the cranial and optic nerves, eventually destroying their brain through sheer pain.

Drawbacks and Variants[]

None

Uses[]

To control the branch family and to prevent the secrets of the Byakugan falling into any outsider's hands.

Trivia[]

Because of the seal's resemblance to a swastika, it is replaced with an X in the anime version of the series. It receives the same treatment in Viz's monthly distribution of the English manga, but the original design is retained in Viz's volume compilations.
